Complete Oboro Village 100% guide with elite squads, collectibles, and advanced ninja techniques
Stage Overview and Revisiting Strategy

While Oboro Village serves as the introductory stage in Shinobi Art of Vengeance, it’s designed as a multi-visit location that rewards players who return with enhanced abilities. Most players will need to revisit this stage multiple times as they acquire essential ninja tools like the Cannon Punch, Ninja Hooks, and Ninja Claws. The stage layout intentionally conceals several collectibles that remain inaccessible during your initial playthrough.
Pro Tip: Create a mental map of areas you can’t access initially and mark them for return visits. This prevents unnecessary backtracking and streamlines your completion progress.
The optimal timing for revisiting Oboro Village is immediately after completing the Lantern Festival, though waiting until you obtain both Ninja Hooks and Ninja Claws provides maximum access. Each tool unlocks specific pathways: Cannon Punch breaks certain barriers, Ninja Hooks enable grappling across gaps, and Ninja Claws facilitate climbing previously inaccessible walls.
Common Mistake: Many players attempt to collect everything in one run, wasting valuable time on areas that require later-game tools. Focus on what’s immediately accessible and plan systematic return trips.
Elite Squads Combat Strategy
Oboro Village distinguishes itself by featuring only two Elite Squad encounters, but each presents unique tactical challenges. Upon completing this stage, you’ll unlock Kunai Killer – an enhanced variant of Kunai Burst Ninpo that projects kunai in a full 360-degree radius around your character, significantly improving crowd control capabilities.
Elite Squad #1: This combat encounter becomes accessible after acquiring the Cannon Punch ability. Fast travel to the Antechamber Save Point and navigate to the upper left path that requires punching through a barrier. The squad positions itself on platforms suspended above spike pits, creating opportunities to instantly eliminate enemies by knocking them into the hazards below. Advanced Technique: Use aerial attacks to maximize knockback and conserve ninpo energy.
Elite Squad #2: Accessing this challenge requires both Ninja Hook and Ninja Claws. From the Collapsed Bridge area, take the descending left path and choose the lower route at the branching path. This leads to an intricate jumping puzzle culminating in an Elite Squad marker above a spike pit. You must use grappling mechanics to cross the gap and eliminate the Sniper and any spawning reinforcements. Strategy Note: Prioritize the Sniper first as they can disrupt your platforming attempts from range.
Hidden Secrets and Power-ups
Oboro Village contains two significant hidden power-ups that substantially enhance your combat effectiveness. Accessing these requires not only specific tools but also mastery of advanced movement mechanics including precision air dashing, wall-running techniques, and controlled jump momentum.
Max Kunai Boost: This represents the first in a series of kunai capacity upgrades scattered throughout the game. From the Attack Save Point, proceed rightward to the area accessible via Sword Dive. Shatter the Treasure Box to claim this upgrade. Optimization Tip: Increasing kunai capacity early significantly improves your ranged combat sustainability against later bosses.
Kunai Burst Ninpo: Return to the path left of the Attic Save Point featuring extensive green spike hazards, now equipped with Ninja Claws (the Glider accessory facilitates certain sections). This demands flawless platforming execution. The reward at the path’s conclusion is this formidable area-of-effect ninpo ability. Movement Mastery: Practice the timing of running briefly up walls and immediately jumping off to maintain momentum through tight spaces.
Advanced Technique: Mastering the combination of air dash into wall run creates fluid movement chains that bypass seemingly impossible gaps. This skill becomes essential for late-game content beyond Oboro Village.
Oboro Relics Collection Guide
During your initial exploration of Oboro Village, you’ll likely discover 2-3 Oboro Relics naturally. The remaining collectibles require later-acquired ninja tools including Cannon Punch and Sword Dive. Systematic collection ensures you maximize your completion percentage.
- Oboro Relic #1: After obtaining Sword Dive, return to the Village Ruins Save Point. Move leftward to the green wall and execute a Sword Dive downward to retrieve this relic.
- Oboro Relic #2: Located in the primary chamber of the Antechamber segment (characterized by three rings and an unlockable gate), select the bottom right exit leading downward. Defeat the ninja patrol and claim the relic from the Treasure Box.
- Oboro Relic #3: Upon finishing this stage’s Ankou Rift, take the upper left exit path. Multiple Treasure Boxes appear here, with one containing this Oboro Relic.
- Oboro Relic #4: This relic resides in the stage’s later sections beyond the Collapsed Bridge Save Point. Progress normally until reaching the expansive chamber that continues right. After clearing enemy waves, investigate the left portion of this large room. Descend along the left wall to locate the Treasure Box. Alternative access: navigate left from the Shop area.
- Oboro Relic #5: Impossible to overlook, this final relic lies directly along the pathway leading to the ultimate shop, positioned immediately after Oboro Relic #4’s location.
Collection Strategy: Group relic collection with other objectives to minimize backtracking. Combine relic hunting with elite squad encounters when possible.
Ankou Rift Challenge Mastery
(Clip begins at 12:41)
The Ankou Rift within Shinobi Art of Vengeance’s Oboro Village is accessible from below the Attic Save Point. After acquiring the Max Kunai Boost, descend to the chamber’s lower section. From the left-side gold ring handhold, drop down and execute a Sword Dive to enter the challenge.
This particular Ankou Rift rigorously tests your proficiency with double jump/air dash combinations, forward roll timing, and crawl-walk transitions. Success demands executing extremely precise jumps and hazardous rolls beneath spike formations. The substantial effort rewards players with components for the powerful Dark Katana.
Platforming Strategy: Maintain consistent rhythm in your movements – rushed inputs often lead to miscalculations. The crawl-walk mechanic proves particularly crucial for navigating the lowest spike sections where standing movement would result in damage.
Expert Tip: Practice the sequence in segments rather than attempting the entire challenge repeatedly. Mastering each individual section builds muscle memory for the complete run.
Shinobi Art of Vengeance represents SEGA’s newest action platforming experience, scheduled for release on August 29, 2025, across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One platforms. Additional game insights are available through our comprehensive review.
